ASRock Announces First Custom Radeon RX 5700 Challenger Series Graphics Cards – Ditches Reference Blower For Dual Fan Design, Huge Factory Overclock

ASRock has just announced the first custom 7nm RDNA based graphics card, their latest Radeon RX 5700 Challenger series. The ASRock Radeon RX 5700 challenger series aims to deliver better cooling performance over the reference design while offering a massive factory overclock.

The ASRock Challenger series is a completely new brand designed exclusively for the Radeon RDNA based graphics cards. There are two cards in the lineup, the RX 5700 XT Challenger and the Radeon RX 5700 Challenger. Both graphics cards feature the same design but the core specifications will be different.

The Radeon RX 5700 Challenger 8G OC series graphics cards are specially designed with a long-life 10 cm dual fan, and 4 copper heat-pipe up to 8mm to enhance the heat dissipation effect. In addition, the RX 5700 XT Challenger 8G OC graphics card not only focuses on the outlook design, but also the ultra-high-quality aluminum alloy backplate to enhance the strutting of the graphics card. via ASRock

The ASRock Radeon RX 5700 XT Challenger has 2560 stream processors which are clocked at 1650 MHz base, 1795 MHz Game and 1905 MHz Boost clocks. The reference variant is clocked at 1605 MHz base, 1755 MHz Game and 1905 MHz Boost clocks. The Game clock is what matters here as that would be the average clock speed that the card would be able to maintain during gaming and the ASRock variant is +40 MHz ahead of the reference design. Other than that, the card features an 8 GB GDDR6 memory interface that runs across a 256-bit bus and clocked at 14 Gbps.

The ASRock Radeon RX 5700 Challenger features 2304 stream processors which are clocked at 1515 MHz base, 1675 MHz Game and 1725 MHz Boost clocks. For comparison, the reference card is clocked at 1465 MHz base, 1625 MHz Game and 1725 MHz Boost clocks. The card also features an 8 GB GDDR6 memory interface.

In terms of design, both cards are powered by a dual 8 pin connector configuration. The ASRock Challenger series cards feature a black and yellow color scheme. The cards make use of a dual fan design which offers better cooling than the reference blower fan. Beneath the fans is a large heat sink array that features four 8mm copper heat pipes. ASRock also adds a metal backplate that has their branding and hides the electrical components on the back. According to ASRock, the Radeon RX 5700 Challenger series is launching today so you can expect them to pop up on retail outlets soon enough.
