While Sony’s focus right now is mostly on Kojima’s Death Stranding, due on November 8th as revealed a few weeks ago, the biggest PlayStation 4 exclusive remains The Last of Us Part II.
It’s been a while since we’ve had any real news about the action/adventure game in development at Naughty Dog. However, that might change in the coming months as increasingly strong rumors point to a relatively near release window – February 2020.
Kotaku’s Jason Schreier had recently suggested the game was delayed to February 2020 after initially shooting for a November 2019 release date. Moreover, in a recent video interview, Ashley Johnson (the actress who plays Ellie in the game) briefly mentioned that the game should release in February before getting cut off by the interviewer.
Needless to say, this can’t be taken as official confirmation yet. Stay tuned on Wccftech, though, and we’ll let you know as soon as Sony announces the official release date.
In The Last of Us Part II, Ellie is now 19 and has found a semblance of peace and normality living in Jackson. She’s had a chance to be a teenager and forge lasting relationships. When that peace is disrupted by a violent act, Ellie is thrust into a brutal journey of retribution, fueled by a need to bring those that have wronged her to justice, pushing her to her very limits.
From the way Ellie plays to the way she navigates through this hostile world, the player is going to feel her physical, emotional, and mental state expressed through every facet of gameplay.
The completely overhauled game engine, new combat mechanics, new analog stealth systems, and revamped animation system to fully express Ellie’s desperation, resourcefulness, and unique agility.
New environments are broader, more complex, and more detailed – bringing unprecedented realism, verticality, and player choice to the world of The Last of Us.
The human enemies the player will encounter are now more threatening and capable, using sophisticated communication and environmental awareness to create intense, more dynamic stealth and head-on combat encounters.
The Last of Us Part II features new and returning characters, brought to life by the latest performance capture techniques and exceptional cast.
