PlayStation 5 Is More Powerful Than Xbox Scarlett, According To Devs

PlayStation 5

The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett consoles have finally been unveiled, but details on both of them are currently quite scarce, as specs haven’t been detailed so far. According to developers who have received dev kits for both systems, however, one of the two is definitely more powerful.

On the latest episode of his podcast, former IGN editor Colin Moriarty revealed that the PlayStation 5 is more powerful than the Xbox Scarlett, judging from reports of developers who have received the developer kits for both systems. While it’s true that the final specs of consoles are different from the ones seen in the dev kits, there’s a good chance that this report is right, as this isn’t the first time we heard that the Sony next-gen console is going to be the more powerful than Microsoft’s system.

Developers have been praising Sony’s new system quite a bit since its unveiling. Earlier this month, Yakuza series general director Toshihiro Nagoshi stated that the console has amazing processing power and that artificial intelligence and machine learning will play a central role.

The processing power of PlayStation 5 is incredible, so when we try to think of new gameplay that will utilize its full potential, I’m not really sure which aspects of existing mechanics we should translate.

First there was a time when graphics improved, then there was network features, and now I guess you can say its a return to the “programmable” era? I think artificial intelligence and machine learning will continue to evolve.

The PlayStation 5 console will be released on a yet to be confirmed release date.
