Galaxy S10 5G Sales Are Rising in Samsung’s Home Market, Despite the Flagship’s Ridiculous Price Tag

Galaxy S10 5G sales going strong in South Korea

The Galaxy S10 5G was launched on April 5, nearly a month after the launch of the non-5G variants in Samsung’s home country of South Korea. While initial reports hinted at a strong market reception of the 4G models, there was no news about the sales regarding the 5G variant up until now. A Korean media outlet is now claiming that 1 million Galaxy S10 5G sales have been registered.

On Average, 15,000 Galaxy S10 5G Sales Were Reported Every Day

South Korea was one of the first countries in the world to launch a 5G network, and Samsung was quick to follow up with the Galaxy S10 5G. It took just 80 days for the company to reach the 1 million mark, according to the new report. Industry insiders claim that on average, 15,000 Galaxy S10 5G units are sold every day, and now that carriers have started offering 5G service in South Korea, consumers are more into the 5G model.

To put things into perspective, the Galaxy S10 5G reportedly made up 20 percent of all Galaxy S10 sales in April, and it now accounts for 80 percent of the sales of the Galaxy S10 series. Meanwhile, the 5G-ready LG V50 ThinQ seems to have slumped in popularity after a supposedly stellar start, as 280,000 units have been sold since its debut on May 10. Given that 5G is a nascent technology, LG’s flagship numbers aren’t disappointing, but that figure comes nowhere close to the sales of the Galaxy S10 5G.

Of course, the fact that smartphones are heavily subsidized by carriers in South Korea greatly helped. This means that the Galaxy S10 5G might not do as well in other countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Then again, the Galaxy S10 5G is one of the first 5G-ready handsets in the market and early adopters might not mind the high price tag to get a taste of faster speeds offered by the next generation of wireless connectivity.

It’s still impressive that the Galaxy S10 5G is one of the most expensive flagships being sold in the world right now and still it managed to sell an impressive number of units. Perhaps it’s the brand loyalty that consumers display while living in South Korea, or it could be because of the large number of upgrades the flagship ships with. What do you think are the reasons for the Galaxy S10 5G sales growth in Samsung’s home ground? Let us know down in the comments.
