Destroy All Humans! Preparing to Invade the Planet Again in 2020

Pull on your favorite old pair of bootcut jeans and pop on some 50 Cent, because edgy mid-2000s video game staple Destroy All Humans! is making its return. For those who don’t recall, the Destroy All Humans games cast players as a heavily-armed alien named Crypto, who’s on a mission to harvest DNA from the hapless human population. The new Destroy All Humans! will be a replica of the original 2005 with updated graphics. Check out a trailer, below.

Well, uh, that trailer sure was something! It’s certainly been a long time since I listened to any Rammstein. I’m not sure why Crypto is suddenly into German industrial metal, but it makes a certain kind of sense I suppose. The Destroy All Humans remake will be developed by Black Forest Games, who made the decent Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams and, uh, Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back, so we’ll see how this turns out. THQ Nordic has yet to issue a full press release, but here’s a quick feature list via Amazon:

  • Experience the evil side of a 50s alien invasion story
  • Enjoy Crypto’s unique weaponry like the Anal Probe Gun
  • Pose as pathetic humans to infiltrate their fragile democracy
  • Use psychokinesis to send enemies flying or bombard them with random objects
  • Includes the restored, much-rumored, never before seen: Lost Mission of Area 42!

The Destroy All Humans games were fun enough, but I mostly remember them because of the ubiquitous ads that ran on TV. Will the series’ edgy, anal-probe-heavy humor hold up in 2019? I have my doubts, but hey, maybe THQ Nordic will catch a wave of mid-2000s nostalgia. What do you think? Did you enjoy the original Destroy All Humans games? Will you be playing the remake?

Destroy All Humans! invades the PC, Xbox One, and PS4 sometime in 2020.
