Cyberpunk 2077 Dev Will Look At PS5, Xbox Scarlett Release, But Focus Is On Current Gen

Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 is currently set for a PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One release, and it seems like a possible next-gen release is still undecided, and will only be looked at once the game is out.

Speaking with GamerHubTV, Senior Level Designer Miles Tost talked about a possible next-gen release of Cyberpunk 2077, saying that the team we’ll look at the next-gen consoles later on, but now the team’s focus is on the PC and current generation release.

We’ll look at [next-generation consoles] and go, ‘Maybe?’ But it’s not our area of interest right now.”

Of course we are looking at what is happening in the games industry because we are part of it, and we need to always look forward. But at the same time, we are a studio that really focuses on the work we’re doing now. So our full attention is on current-gen consoles and PC. Who knows? When the time comes for it, maybe [we’ll support next-gen consoles]. But until Cyberpunk 2077 launches in April 2020, we have a thing to do. And as far as what I have heard, the next-gen consoles … Xbox just announced holiday 2020. So it’s not really a concern for us now because it comes way after where we want to release our game.”

Cyberpunk 2077 is going to use Ray Tracing for diffused illumination, which correctly portraits the way light reflects on an object and illuminates the others around it, and ambient occlusion.

This effect has been rolled out in full force during the final boss battle of the E3 demo. V, the playable character of your own design, is locked into the lobby of an abandoned cinema with an irate gang leader that wants to hack you to bits, both digitally and physically. A close-combat battle ensues, with heaps of visual FX engulfing the scene, illuminated across one of the few glossy, polished floors in the building. This scene evidently a shining example of what’s to come.

Cyberpunk 2077 launches on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in all regions. We will keep you updated on the game as soon as more come in on it, so stay tuned for all the latest news.
