Specifications Sheet of Google Pixel 3a Leaks out Before Announcement; Confirms OLED Screen, Single Rear Camera, and More

Google Pixel 3a complete specs sheet leak

Google’s annual I/O keynote kicks off today and while the company has several features from its upcoming software update to impress the crowd, the search engine giant has been having a tough time selling Pixel 3 units. Launching the cheaper Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL makes a lot of sense for various markets, including price-sensitive ones so Google is able to potentially improve its presence and market share in these areas. Before the announcement kicks off, however, a specifications sheet of the Pixel 3a has come forth, revealing a few things that were already known about the smartphone, so let us not waste any extra time and get right into the details.

Google Pixel 3a to Use Polycarbonate Chassis, Giving the Mid-Ranger a Great Deal of Durability

According to the specifications sheet, the Pixel 3a will have a 5.6-inch FHD+ OLED screen with a 2220 x 1080 resolution and a 441-pixel density. This isn’t any different than what the previous specifications have prattled, and thanks to the improved display, users will experience the ‘Always On’ feature. A lot of people will actually confuse plastic with polycarbonate, but the latter is actually a very durable material that’s used in riot shields. If the Pixel 3a is made using polycarbonate, it will have a very durable chassis when it comes to drops, but not so much when it comes to scratches.

Polycarbonate is also less expensive than an aluminum and glass build, so you can see why Google would want to opt for this. The hardware specifications include a Snapdragon 670 coupled with 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB of non-expandable storage. A 12.2MP rear camera paired with a front-facing 8MP shooter is also present, with a previous rumor claiming that the more affordable handset will be able to produce image quality similar to the Pixel 3. While the Pixel 3a does not support Qi wireless charging, it does have a Type-C USB port with 18W charge support and a 3.5mm headphone jack as well.

In the box, you’ll find the following items:

  • USB-C 18W AC Power Adapter
  • USB-C to USB-C Cable (USB 2.0)
  • Quick Switch Adapter
  • SIM card tool
  • 5mm earphones

These are just your average bundled goods, but it is still a generous move from Google in providing customers with some freebies. Pricing of the Pixel 3a was not mentioned, but a 2-year warranty was listed, along with software updates for at least three years. As for the information that we could not provide here, it’s only a few hours remaining for Google I/O to start so we’ll have nearly everything for you then, so stay tuned.
