Pokémon Masters Coming to Android and iOS Early Next Year

For all the fan following it has, Pokémon has a surprisingly few games on mobile. Pokémon Go generated an incredible amount of hype at its release. Today, the title is enjoyed by only a few hardcore fans on the franchise. A few weeks ago, Pokémon Rumble Rush made its way to Android and iOS and today,  the Pokémon Company revealed a new mobile game. The title is called Pokémon Masters and it is the result of a partnership between itself and mobile game publisher DeNA; the developer behind Super Mario Run and Fire Emblem Heroes.

The game will feature classic Pokémon trainers such as Misty, Lance, and Red, and pit them against each other in battle. The gameplay trailer showed a triple battle happening between trainers, with the player partnering up with Brock and Misty. The game is reminiscent of class Pokémon games. The players Pikachu has two skills with slots to learn more. There is even the ability for players to interact with their characters between matches. According to the official press release:

A new Pokémon mobile game called Pokémon Masters is on the way for iOS and Android devices from The Pokémon Company and DeNA. Pokémon Masters enables players to experience a new type of Pokémon battling on the go and features many famous Pokémon Trainers from the long history of Pokémon video games. Gameplay will be optimized for smart devices for a casual but uniquely Pokémon experience. Fans can expect more details about Pokémon Masters in June.

It shouldn’t be surprising to see a lot of Pokémon-related announcements going around, considering that Detective Pikachu has now hit the theatres. There isn’t too much information on the game yet, but more details will come next month, according to the press conference. We can expect Pokémon Masters to make its way to the iOS App Store and the Google Play Store in 2019.
