OnePlus 7 Pro Will Match Galaxy S10’s Video Output

OnePlus 7 Pro three alleged models

After OnePlus’ CEO Pete Lau took to Twitter and confirmed that his company’s upcoming smartphone, the OnePlus 7 Pro, will feature UFS 3.0 storage, we now have another big report for the smartphone. Of course, since the news about UFS 3.0 was directly from a OnePlus executive, there’s no doubt that it’s 100% solid. However, this doesn’t mean we don’t have good reason to believe a rare claim from popular tipster Ice_Universe for the gadget that’s due to be launched next week. Take a look below for more details.

Tipster Believes That The Upcoming OnePlus 7 Pro Will Feature An HDR10+ Display

As we head closer to the device’s launch, it looks as if OnePlus’ days of ‘killing flagships’ are behind it. The company used to market itself as a brand that offered high-end specifications at decent prices – hence the term ‘flagship killer’. But current reports for the OnePlus 7 Pro suggests that the smartphone will be a flagship itself, so unless OnePlus wants to shoot itself in the foot, we believe that there won’t be any killing later this month.

After confirmation that the smartphone will feature top-of-the-line UFS 3.0 storage, we’re now learning that it might also come with an HDR10+ display. For those of you who don’t know. HDR10+ is an extension of the current HDR10 standard that allows devices and displays to use dynamic metadata for adjusting video formats according to the display that they’re being shown on.

What this means for the layman is that you’ll be able to comfortably watch high-definition content on your OnePlus 7 Pro without any unnecessary distortion. What is also means is that the days of OnePlus being the underdog of the smartphone world might be over. Right now, no high-end mobile gadget has both HDR10+ and UFS 3.0 storage. Combine both of these with 3x Optical Zoom for the device’s rear camera, and you’ll realize that OnePlus is eager to target bigger players in the smartphone market such as Apple, Samsung and Huawei.

It’s a risk that will have great rewards for OnePlus should the market wholeheartedly adopt the upcoming device. A determining factor for this will be the OnePlus 7 Pro‘s price tag; the more competitively priced the gadget is, the higher are its chances of being popular. However, competitive pricing will also hurt OnePlus’ margins, and the company will have to sell more gadgets to recoup costs.
