Nintendo has announced their plans for E3 2019, and they’re in line with what the company has done the last few years. Once again, the company will be doing a pre-taped Nintendo Direct rather than a life press conference, which will be followed by all-day Nintendo Treehouse: Live steaming sessions. Most notably, Nintendo says the E3 Direct will “focus entirely on software,” confirming the company won’t be announcing any new Switch hardware at the show.
For those live in Los Angeles, Nintendo will be holding Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Splatoon 2 tournaments on Saturday, June 8 at the Ace Hotel. The tournaments will see the top competitors from North America, Europe, Australia/New Zealand, and Japan throw down. Nintendo will also be offering a new “Warp Pipe Pass” that will reduce the amount of time you have to wait in line to check out the company’s booth. No specific details on how to sign up for the Warp Pipe Pass have been revealed yet, but you’ll need to have a Nintendo Account.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Splatoon 2 Tournaments: The team-based Super Smash Bros. Ultimate World Championship 2019 3v3 and the Splatoon 2 World Championship 2019 tournaments will take place on Saturday, June 8, at The Theatre at Ace Hotel at 929 S. Broadway St. in Los Angeles. Both events will feature players from North America, Europe, Japan and Australia/New Zealand. The line for entry starts forming at 8 a.m. in front of The Theatre at Ace Hotel. Fans who want to catch the competitions in person can gain free entry after receiving an event badge in line on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors will open at 10 a.m. and competition is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. People who prefer to watch the competitions online can visit http://bit.ly/2sNOzyh and Nintendo’s channels on Twitch and YouTube.
Nintendo Direct E3 2019: The presentation will begin at 9 a.m. PT on June 11. Viewers can watch it by visiting http://bit.ly/2sNOzyh. The presentation, which focuses entirely on software, will offer a look at games scheduled to launch in 2019.
Nintendo Treehouse: Live: The livestream hosted by Nintendo of America’s Treehouse staff right from Nintendo’s E3 booth returns to give viewers a deeper look into select games, along with commentary by those who know the games best. What are you most excited to see from Nintendo at E3 this year? I’m hyped to get a first look at Bayonetta 3 and am very curious about what they’re doing with Animal Crossing. As for unannounced stuff, Super Mario Odyssey has been out in the wild for a while now – what might the 3D Mario team at EAD Tokyo be up to? Also, Metroid Prime 4 has been delayed, but could Samus reappear in some other form? And will we ever see what Retro Studios was working on for the past five years? Lots of possibilities!
