Huawei Issues Statement Shortly After ARM Cuts Ties; Says It Understands the ‘Pressure’ Its Close Partners Are Under

Huawei certainly shares no ill-will against its U.S-based partners for cutting off its business ties with the smartphone marker, and the latest entrant to be added to that list is British chip designer ARM. The firm ended its business dealings rather abruptly and shortly after Huawei issues its first statement after the Android license ban, the company has a response for the latest move that’s sought to cripple its growing mobile division.

Huawei States That Due to Politically-Bound Reasons, Its Partners Have Been Forced to Distance Themselves From the Chinese Giant

Following the ARM news, Huawei reached out to Android Central with the following statement concerning its stance on its partners.

“We value our close relationships with our partners, but recognize the pressure some of them are under, as a result of politically motivated decisions. We are confident this regrettable situation can be resolved and our priority remains to continue to deliver world-class technology and products to our customers around the world.”

If ARM maintains its decision, then Huawei will not be able to develop future Kirin chips. For the time being, Huawei will source its Kirin 980 for future handsets, but there could be uncertainty concerning the upcoming Kirin 985, which is expected to be found in the Mate 30 lineup. When it comes to a custom operating system, Huawei is said to be working on a solution called HongMeng OS, with reports stating it will be able to run Android applications as a second life to mitigate the effects of the Android ban.

Despite easing the ban and allowing Huawei to work with Google for three more months, ARM still hasn’t rescinded on its original decision. However, let us not lose hope just yet, as China may hold trade talks with the U.S. once more, leading to a positive outlook in the near future.
