Google Assistant, Search, and Maps Make It Easier to Order Food Without Delivery Apps

Google US Election

The Google Assistant, Search and Maps already bost of a plethora of integrations that aim at making mundane tasks easier. Maps now has AR-navigation, which makes getting around new places a lot easier. Starting today, it will be possible to order food from participating restaurants using the services. Some users in the US will now be able to order food from participating restaurants using the Google Assistant, Google Search, or Google Maps. All you need to do is issue a voice command or use the newly introduced “order online” button. According to Google’s blog post:

Ever since then, I’ve counted myself as one of the millions of people who regularly order food for home delivery. Starting today, we’re making it even easier to get food delivered to your doorstep.

Currently, only a few services such as DoorDash, Postmates, Delivery.com, Slice, and ChowNow are supported. Support for Zuppler and others will be coming in the future. The Assistant will even let you look at complete menus, complete with all costs and extra add. It even shows delivery charges, taxes and the likes before you check out. And the best part is, you don’t need to create individual accounts. Just your Google account is enough.

To order via the Search or Maps applications, all you need to do is search for your favourite supported restaurant. In the case of Google Assistant, simply say “Hey Google, order food from [restaurant]” or “Hey Google, reorder food from [restaurant]” and your past dishes will be shown to you. Participating restaurants will also support Google Pay so that you can order and pay for your food all in one fell swoop. The feature is available for all users in the U.S starting now. There is no word about when it’ll launch in other regions just yet.
