Final Fantasy VII Remake Will Still Be Episodic, Square Enix Confirms

Final Fantasy VII Remake

Some time after its previous showing, we finally managed to get another look at the Final Fantasy VII Remake during yesterday’s State of Play. Square Enix hasn’t said much about the game, only promising new information for next month, but the Japanese publisher shared a new press release today confirming that the release plans for the game haven’t changed from what was previously announced.

In this new press release, Square Enix reiterated that the game will still be an episodic release, which is not surprising considering the huge scope of the original game. This also means that the episodes following the first will likely be released on next-generation consoles.

The Final Fantasy VII Remake is being developed by some of the key members of the original development team, such as Tetsuya Nomura, Yoshinori Kitase, and Kazushige Nojima.

Production has begun on the full remake of Final Fantasy VII, a title that first released in 1997 and universally regarded as a hallmark title of the RPG genre. Leading the development will be key members from the original project, including producer Yoshinori Kitase, director Tetsuya Nomura and scenario writer Kazushige Nojima. With its epic story, captivating characters, and cutting edge technology that defined an era, the beloved classic that won the hearts of many is finally ready to be reborn.

The Final Fantasy VII Remake is currently in development for PlayStation 4. We will keep you updated on the game as soon as more come in on it, so stay tuned for all the latest news.
