Dreamcast Emulator Reicast Teased For Nintendo Switch

Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch homebrew scene is still in its infancy, but some very interesting applications have been released in the past few months. Now, it seems like a Dreamcast emulator may be released on the console.

A few days ago, the Dreamcast emulator Reicast development team teased the possible release of the emulator on Nintendo Switch with an image of Sonic Adventure running on the console.

Nothing else has been said about the emulator right now, but there’s a very good chance performance will be more than good, as Reicast currently supports dynamic recompiling, which helps games run at good speeds.

Reicast is currently available on PC and Android. More information can be found on its official website.

Reicast is a Sega Dreamcast emulator. It’s an app that allows you to play your Dreamcast games on your computer or android phone. We’ve even baked in some magic to make things looks prettier than they did on the Dreamcast. Of course, not all games work, and the ones that do often have glitches

Reicast primarily aims for speed and to run on android. It is derived from the nullDC codebase. We work on it in our spare time, because we love working on complicated, headache-inducing projects. Development traces back to late 2003 and has been largely non-continuous.
