diablo 2 remaster

Some screenshots have surfaced online showcasing how a Diablo 2 Remaster could look like.

While Blizzard might very well be working on a Diablo 2 remaster, it has yet to be officially confirmed. Meanwhile, a creative Reddit user has been playing around with AI Generative Adversarial Network ‘ESRGAN’ to see how the AI upscaling would benefit Diablo 2.

According to creator Indoflaven, he used the Manga109 model for ESRGAN in order to upscale these screenshots. Truth be told, the result is quite great and show the potential of a remastered version of this classic. We’ve included the upscaled screenshots down below:

Diablo 2 was released in 2000 for PC. Many consider the sequel the best Diablo installment to date. The Lord of Destruction expansion for Diablo 2 was released in 2001 and offered two new classes, one new act, new monsters, weapons and much more. In Lord of Destruction, players return to follow the path of Baal, the last of the Prime Evils, into the Barbarian Highlands of the north.
