AMD Zen 2 6 Core CPU Benchmark Leaked, Faster Than Ryzen 7 2700X in Geekbench 4

Another day another Zen 2 Ryzen 3000 series CPU leak and this one is a bit of a shocker! So let’s get straight into it!

A peculiar CPU entry has been spotted in the wild, specifically in Geekbench’s database. The entry carries the same string we’ve seen on all other previous Zen 2 Ryzen 3000 series chips that have been leaked. This particular chip is a 6 core, 12 thread part, and very likely to be the company’s new entry level Ryzen 3000 CPU.

That’s right, word on the street is that the Ryzen 3000 series will start out with 6 cores and 12 threads as a minimum. This specific chip has a base clock speed of 3.2 GHz and a Turbo of 4.0 GHz. So it’s a six core, twelve thread part with a 3.2-4.0 GHz clock range, does that sound familiar?

Well, it should. Because these are the exact same specs of the leaked Ryzen 3 3300 CPU that we’ve reported on roughly six months back. Which based on everything we’ve heard to date, is going to be the cheapest Ryzen 3000 series CPU you can buy.

So, how well does literally the cheapest next gen Ryzen CPU perform? Well, as it turns out it performs better than the most expensive AM4 compatible Ryzen 2000 series CPU you can buy today. The Ryzen 7 2700X. So basically like a champ.

Because the leaked 6 core Zen 2 chip features identical specifications to the previously leaked Ryzen 3 3300, that’s what we’re going to be calling it for the remainder of the article for the sake of simplicity.

The Ryzen 3 3300 managed to achieve a single-core score of 5061 and a multi-core score of 25481. In contrast, a Ryzen 7 2700X scores 4923 points and 25209 points respectively. This means that the 3300 with two fewer cores and significantly lower base and turbo clock speeds, has managed to outperform AMD’s current 8 core AM4 flagship part.

Now these figures are absolutely astonishing for what is rumored to be an entry level $99 CPU and only begs the question, if this is the new low-end how powerful is the new high-end? Things are about to get VERY interesting in the CPU market.
