The PlayStation 5 Will Not Release In The Next 12 Months

PlayStation 5

The PlayStation 5 console has finally been unveiled, sort of, so the next-gen is indeed getting closer and closer. While it’s pretty much safe to say that it will not release this year, it seems like it won’t even be released early next year.

During Sony’s latest financial results briefing, it’s been confirmed that the next-generation console will not be released in the next 12 months, hinting at a late 2020 release. Additionally, Sony is making a huge investment to develop the console.

The PlayStation 5 console is going to be powered by a CPU based on the third generation of AMD’s Ryzen line and by a GPU that will support Ray Tracing.

The CPU is based on the third generation of AMD’s Ryzen line and contains eight cores of the company’s new 7nm Zen 2 microarchitecture. The GPU, a custom variant of Radeon’s Navi family, will support ray tracing, a technique that models the travel of light to simulate complex interactions in 3D environments.

The PlayStation 5 is currently in the works, and it will be released on a yet to be confirmed release date worldwide. We will keep you updated on Sony’s next-generation console as soon as more come in on it, so stay tuned for all the latest news.
