Galaxy S10 Sales in the U.S. Enjoy an Impressive Run, With the ‘Plus’ Model and S10e Providing Additional Momentum

Samsung has maintained its top spot in the smartphone industry, but the Korean phone giant didn’t exactly do well last year as its flagship devices failed to perform as expected but it appears that with the Galaxy S10 series, the company has managed to turn the tide around this year. According to new figures, Samsung’s latest flagship series looks rather promising, and this will come as a positive sign amidst the controversy surrounding the Galaxy Fold.

Although the Galaxy S10 Plus Sold the Most, the Galaxy S10e Appears to Be the Unsung Hero

According to new data from Counterpoint Research, the analytics firm states that the first week sales of the Galaxy S10 series are 16 percent higher than that of the Galaxy S9 range in the same the time period in the U.S., which is undoubtedly one of the key markets of the world. The latest series is also said to have outperformed the first week Galaxy S8 sales, although no figures have been revealed from the latest research.

Given the recent Galaxy Fold fiasco, the news couldn’t have come at a better time for Samsung. If early reviews are to go by, the $2,000 foldable handset might prove to be a dud, which would be incredibly unfortunate for Samsung as the company had been banking on it to maintain its lead in the smartphone market, while also increasing its share in the premium device category.

Luckily for Samsung, it apparently has the Galaxy S10 series to fall back on. The Counterpoint Research report also says that the most expensive of the bunch, the Galaxy S10 Plus, accounted for 50 percent of the sales, which is definitely great for Samsung’s bottom line. The Galaxy S10e might have come in at last, but that isn’t necessarily bad news as the research firm says that the relatively affordable phone did provide a boost to the sales of the lineup as a whole.

In fact, Counterpoint’s data says that the combined first-week sales of the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10 Plus are similar to that of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus during the same period, so it appears that the Galaxy S10e has made a considerable difference.

In terms of design, performance, camera performance and other areas, the Galaxy S10 series is a significant upgrade over its predecessor. Looks like introducing an affordable model was the right strategy all along, though we’ll have to see if the company can maintain this progress going into 2020.
