OnePlus is most likely prepared to unveil three new devices on May 14, with one of them being the more premium OnePlus 7 Pro. The change in design, addition of cameras, improved specifications, and of course the display upgrade means that the OnePlus 7 Pro is expected to be more expensive than the regular version, with CEO Pete Lau also stating that the flagship’s screen is more expensive to produce.
A lot of phone manufacturing companies can effortlessly market a feature of their products as being one of the best there is, but what about when testing experts say the same thing? According to DisplayMate, the OnePlus 7 Pro screen is labeled as a very high quality one, and for a brand that’s often had to make compromises to get the price, it is difficult to believe.
OnePlus 7 Pro Joins the Ranks of Galaxy S10 Plus, Which DisplayMate Earlier Tested and Gave an A+ Rating
While DisplayMate may have concluded its extensive testing of the OnePlus 7 Pro, the details have not been published as yet. Before the imminent announcement scheduled to take place on May 14, it wouldn’t have been possible for DisplayMate to publish the results, as they are most likely under embargo from OnePlus. Achieving an A+ rating in the display department is also a difficult feat to obtain, especially when the smartphone is going up against premium and more expensive flagships like the Galaxy S10 Plus.

DisplayMate might have upped its rating thanks to the increase in resolution. In case you didn’t know, the OnePlus 7 Pro is said to arrive with a QHD resolution, which is the first time for a OnePlus-branded smartphone, making everything appear more crisp and detailed, resulting in increased visual fidelity. Additionally, this model is said to arrive with a 90Hz screen, making animations and other movement on the display very fluid and enjoyable. It’s not confirmed if the 90Hz refresh rate will be enabled by default as increasing the value increases battery consumption too, but it’s not a difficult process heading to the settings and adjusting the number accordingly.
A high quality smartphone display is one of the reasons why mobile devices have gotten so expensive, so as stated above, expect to pay a hefty price for the OnePlus 7 Pro. Well, that’s about all the information we can provide you for now, but when DisplayMate publishes its extensive testing results, we’ll have more updates for you in the future, so stay tuned.
