Xiaomi Redmi 7 passes through TENAA with 6.26″ HD+ display

Another day, another Xiaomi. Hot on the heels of the launch of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 and Note 7 Pro in India, Xiaomi is gearing up for another addition to its device portfolio in the form of the Xiaomi Redmi 7. The successor to the budget Redmi 6 has been spotted as it passed through TENAA, China’s certification authority, giving us a good look at the device and several of its specifications.

Firstly, the images for the upcoming Xiaomi device with listing model number M1810F6LE showcases a phone that will sport a gradient design, which indicates that it may possibly come with a glass back (though Xiaomi may end up using clear plastic as this would be a budget device). What we can also see is the presence of a dual rear camera setup as well as a fingerprint sensor. The front of the device is barren, but we can spot the centered selfie camera and the slit for the speaker towards the top edge, which indicates that the phone may come with a waterdrop notch. Thus, the design of the Xiaomi Redmi 7 has closer resemblance to the current generation Xiaomi Redmi Note 7, than to the previous generation Redmi 6.

The TENAA listing also shows off that the biggest change to the device will be its larger 6.26″ LCD with 1520 x 720 HD+ resolution. This is a significant bump up from the 5.45″ display found on the Redmi 6. Consequently, the Redmi 7 will be a bigger device with dimensions measuring 158.65 x 76.43 x 8.47 mm and weighing 180g. The bigger device footprint has also allowed Xiaomi to cram in a bigger battery, with the Redmi 7’s battery rated for a capacity of 3,900mAh.

On the inside, the device will feature an octa-core SoC clocked in @1.8GHz, alongside 2/3/4GB of RAM and 16/32/64GB of storage, as well as option of storage expandability. The camera setup on the device will comprise of a 12MP primary sensor and an additional sensor, and a 8MP front camera. The phone will also launch with MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie.

Xiaomi is hosting an event on March 18 in China. We’ll hopefully have more information regarding the devices closer to the event date.
