The Outer Worlds, Control, Detroit: Become Human and More are Epic Games Store Exclusives

After an initial flurry, the flow of Epic Games Store exclusivity announcements has dried up in recent weeks. Could Epic be easing up on locking down big PC games? Think again! During their GDC 2019 keynote, Epic announced more than a dozen new exclusives for their store. You can check out a hype video for the new additions, below.

Most notably, 2K’s Private Division label will be bringing Obsidian’s The Outer Worlds and Assassin’s Creed creator Patrice Désilets’ Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey to the Epic Games Store. The Outer Worlds going Epic exclusive is particularly surprising, as the game already briefly popped up on Steam, but apparently an agreement was struck between 2K and Epic since then!

Here’s the full lineup of games Epic announced – The Outer Worlds, Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, Control, Afterparty, The Cycle, Dauntless, Industries of Titan, Journey to the Savage Planet, Kine, Phoenix Planet, The Sinking City, Spellbreak, and Soul Ash. Some exciting games on that list! The Outer Worlds, Ancestors, Control, Savage Planet, and The Sinking City are all titles I’m keeping an eye on.

But that’s not all! Quantic Dream, who recently announced their intentions to go multiplatform, have announced Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human are all coming to PC via the Epic Games Store. All three of those games used to be PlayStation exclusive, so this is a pretty big deal.

So yeah, clearly the migration to the Epic Games Store isn’t slowing down any time soon, but are publishers making the right decision? Are games actually selling on Epic’s store? Despite all the angry gamers who insist they’ll never ever buy anything from Epic, the store is apparently doing just fine – Epic exclusive Metro: Exodus sold 2.5x more copies on PC at launch than its predecessor Metro: Last Light did.

What do you think? Will you give the Epic Games Store a try given this latest round of exclusives? Or will you hold out until the bitter end?
