Pocket Casts 7.0.2 brings back multi select, adds grouping options by played status, and fixes bugs

Earlier this month we covered a brand new update to the Pocket Casts podcast player application. This update brought the application up to version 7, but the big change here was a major Material Design overhaul, new features, and a different user experience. Not everyone was a fan of how things changed with the new user interface which had a negative impact on their UX. The team behind Pocket Casts has been listening and have just announced version 7.0.2 which brings back multi-select, adds some features, and fixes some bugs.

The team behind the Pocket Casts application said they received a lot of feedback after pushing their beta app to the stable channel and went live in the Play Store. They had a lot of good intentions with this update, but if you had looked at the latest reviews on both the iOS and Google Play app stores then you would have noticed a lot of 1-star reviews. So it makes sense that they received a lot of feedback and we’re happy to say that they are listening and working to fix some of the biggest Pocket Casts issues that were brought to their attention.

For starters, multi-select is back now and it is used when selecting episodes to download, adding items to the “up next” playlist, and marking items as played or archived. In version 7 they also stopped putting downloaded podcast episodes at the top, but this feature is back in 7.0.2. They also added in a grouping feature that includes played, unplayed, and seasons too. The folks behind the application say that 7.0.2 is only the first update in a series of updates that they will release thanks to all of the feedback they received from the Pocket Casts community.
