OnePlus 5/5T and OnePlus 6/6T get new OxygenOS Open Betas with March security patches

OnePlus utilizes the Open Beta channel for testing out new updates to OxygenOS and gathering feedback, while simultaneously allowing the community to experience upcoming changes to the OS before they are rolled out to the public. The Open Beta system of updates has been very successful for OnePlus, and the OEM has continued on with providing new Betas on a regular schedule. OnePlus has now rolled out Open Beta 28/26 for the OnePlus 5/5T and Open Beta 14/6 for the OnePlus 6/6T

The highlight of this pair of releases is the bump up to March 2019’s Android Security Patches. There are also battery optimizations as well as changes to quick settings and flight mode. You can now also select an entire contact group for sending out SMS in bulk, which should come in handy.

As the name implies, these are beta builds for users who do not mind encountering occasional bugs and broken functionality, and who are interested in providing constructive and valuable feedback. While Open Betas from OnePlus have generally been stable enough for daily use, we do not recommend users flash these if they do not know what they are doing.

The update should soon be available as OTA for users already on the previous Open Beta release. You can switch from the Stable branch to Open Beta branch by following along the official instructions, but keep in mind that moving back to Stable requires a complete data wipe.
