Motorola Moto Z4 leak reveals small notch, Moto Mod support, and possibly in-display fingerprint scanner

We’ve known about the Moto Z4 from all the way back in November when the device was referred to as “Odin.” However, there hasn’t been a ton of leaks and reports about the Moto Z4 series. The Play model has leaked a couple of times, but we’ve yet to see the standard Moto Z4. That changes today and we also have learned about some of the specs.

The Moto Z4 doesn’t look much different from the previously leaked Moto Z4 Play It has the same small, single camera notch on the front with small bezels around the display. No details were shared about the size and type of display. There is no visible fingerprint scanner (unless it’s hidden in the Moto logo), which could corroborate the in-display fingerprint scanner from previous reports.

The report also claims the Z4 has a 48MP camera on the rear. Motorola seems to be bucking the industry trend of multiple cameras and opting for just one, big sensor. The report claims the sensor is being sourced from Sony, unlike the Play model’s camera which is said to be from Q Technology.

The standard Moto Z4 may also differentiate itself from the Play model with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. Unsurprinslgy, it should also support the 5G Moto Mod. The few other specs mentioned include Android Pie, USB Type-C for charging, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The last interesting tidbit from the report is the claim that there will be no Play model, despite the multiple renders based on CAD models. This is a possibility since both devices seem so similar, but we’ll have to wait to learn more about that.
