Huawei P30 & P30 Pro Are Officially Launched; Kirin 980 With 10x Lossless Hybrid Zoom, Quad-Camera Setup, and More

After months of rumors and speculations, the Huawei P30 series has finally been unveiled. The company announced the phones at the Palais des Congres in Paris, France. Alongside the phones, Huawei also launched the Freelace wireless earphones. The current models Huawei introduced were the P30 and P30 Pro, so let us see how they will stir up the competition when they are officially released in the markets.

The Huawei P30 Pro Is an Imaging Powerhouse With 10x Lossless Zoom – Both This and P30 Expected to Arrive on April

Both the models are underpinned by the Kirin 980 SoC and accompanied by 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB and 512GB of storage that can be expanded using a Nano memory card. Beyond the key specifications, there are certainly some differences between the two phones. The Huawei P30 sports a 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED display. It packs in a 3650mAh battery and has an IP57-rating for protection against water and dust. The phone has a triple rear camera system, with a 40MP main sensor, a 16MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and an 8MP 3x telephoto zoom sensor.

However, the P30 Pro is definitely the star of the show. It has a bigger 6.47-inch display which also doubles up as a speaker, thanks to the electromagnetic levitation speaker. A gigantic 4200mAh battery runs the show and the phone is IP68 certified against water and dust. Unlike the P30, the P30 Pro doesn’t have the headphone jack.

The P30 Pro is also really endowed when it comes to the camera. The phone has a quad-camera setup with a 40MP main camera with OIS, a 20MP ultra-wide angle lens, an 8MP 5x periscope lens, and a Time-of-Flight sensor for depth mapping. The phone also offers a 10x lossless hybrid zoom. Both the phones also come with a Huawei-made RYYB sensor which allegedly improves light absorption by nearly 40 percent.

This should theoretically allow the Huawei P30 series phones to take great shots, even where there is limited light around the user. The ISO level can be bumped up to 409,600 on the P30 Pro and 204,800 on the P30, which is much higher than what other smartphones offer. Both the phones have a 32MP selfie camera that’s housed in a teardrop-shaped notch. The P30 series also come with the Huawei’s Supercharge technology, which means the battery goes from 0 to 70 percent in only half an hour. The phones also have the reverse wireless charging feature which debuted in the Mate 20 Pro, but let us hope the Chinese giant has considerably improved the technology.

Both P30 and P30 will ship with Android 9.1 with Huawei’s own skin on top. The phones will be available in the colors Amber Sunrise, Breathing Crystal, Pearl White, Black, and Black. As for the released, mark your calenders and prepare your wallets on April 6.
