Google Duplex was undoubtedly the star of I/O 2018. The service uses the Google Assistant to perform daily tasks such as calling a restaurant for a reservation, among other things. It was nothing short of magic and a testament of how far the Google Assistant has come since its inception. At that time, there was no release date announced, but now, it looks like the service is rolling out to Google Pixel owners in 43 states in the US.
It is now available on the Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel 3, and Pixel 3 XL in the US states listed below. All you have to do is ask Google Assistant to perform a task, such as “Book a table for four people at [restaurant} tomorrow night.” Google will either call the business on your behalf or make a reservation with an online booking service. You get notified when the task has been completed.

Considering that Duplex is still in very early stages of its existence, it may not work as intended at all times. We can expect to see a laundry list of “Google Duplex Fails Compilations” on YouTube in the coming days. Google says it will begin rolling Duplex out to other Android and iOS devices in the coming weeks.
