While all the attention in the smartphone world is on the Galaxy S10 and Samsung’s event next week, last year’s flagships are getting some love. The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are receiving an update that includes the February 2019 security patches, a schedule option for Night Mode, improved WiFi stability, and more.
The update brings software version G960FXXU2CSB3 and G965FXXU2CSB3 and it comes in at about 350MB. Along with the latest security patches, scheduled Night Mode is a welcomed addition. Night Mode is a feature of One UI that makes the display easier on your eyes. Now you can set a custom schedule for when you want it to turn on and off.

WiFi stability is another area of improvement in this update. Some users were experiencing poor range on the Galaxy S9 after the Android Pie update. The update also improves NFC, email, and gestures (though those are not elaborated on). This update is rolling out now to Galaxy S9 owners in Germany and we expect it to arrive in other markets soon. Updates like this may not blow people away with the number of new features, but stability and small tweaks are just as important.
