Samsung Galaxy M30 to launch in India on February 27 with triple rear cameras and a 5000mAh battery

After years of dominance in the Indian smartphone market, Samsung is now struggling to keep up with Xiaomi’s disruptive pricing and lost its pole position to the Chinese smartphone maker. To gain its dominance back and take on Xiaomi’s offerings in the mid-range, Samsung revised its priorities and recently launched the Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20 in India. The two devices have been fairly successful and now, Samsung is all set to release the third smartphone in the series – Galaxy M30 – later this month.

After a series of speculations, Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy M30 will be unveiled in India on February 27. While the Galaxy M30 will be identical to the Galaxy M20 in many aspects, the distinguishing features include a triple camera at the back and a Super AMOLED Full HD+ Infinity-U display, unlike the TFT LCD displays on the Galaxy M20 and the Galaxy M10. As per the teaser, the smartphone will be sold online exclusively via Amazon India.

IANS had earlier reported that the Galaxy M30 will be equipped with an Exynos 7904 chipset, which is also powers the Galaxy M20.  It will also use the same 5,000mAh battery as the Galaxy M20. The Galaxy M30 is reported to come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage while a 6GB+128GB variant can also be expected to release later. As per the report, the 4GB RAM variant will be priced at ₹14,990 when the device becomes available during the first week of March 2019.

As for the triple rear cameras on the Galaxy M30, Mysmartprice says the setup is expected to comprise a 13MP primary camera, a 5MP wide-angle camera, and a 5MP depth sensor. However, this is yet to be confirmed.

The Galaxy M30 unveiling has been scheduled a day ahead of the launch of Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 7 in India. There is no information about the pricing of the latter, but Redmi Note 7’s pricing in China suggests that it also will also be priced around ₹15,000 ($210) in India. The two smartphones are likely to have a fierce battle, which can be expected to shape the Indian smartphone industry in 2019.
