It’s been a while since we last saw the Sony Xperia XA3. Last October, leaked renders showed a device with dual rear cameras, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and an 18:9 display. More recently, we’ve seen the Sony Xperia XZ4 and a slightly ridiculous looking 21:9 display. According to new leaked renders, the Xperia XA3 may also feature the tall aspect ratio.
The new renders have a lot in common with the last images we saw. We can still see the dual cameras on the rear underneath the flash and the side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Tentative rumors claim the dual cameras will be 23MP and 8MP. The fingerprint scanner is located about halfway up the side, which should make it easy to use on such a tall device. The bottom features a USB-Type C port and speakers.
There is still some question about the actual size of the display. Early reports claimed it was 5.9-inches. The resolution is said to be 2560×1080. Obviously, the aspect ratio is the most notable thing about this display. It’s extremely tall and it will be hard to reach all the corners at almost any size. To make matters worse, the Xperia XA3 has a sizeable top chin. We’re interested to hear Sony’s reasoning for why they’re going with this aspect ration in their 2019 smartphones.
Lastly, the renders show the Xperia XA3 in four colors: black, blue, silver, and pink. Other rumored specs include the Snapdragon 660 SoC, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and a 3,500 mAh battery. We should learn more about this device, the Xperia XZ4, and the Xperia XA3 Ultra at MWC later this month.
