Nokia TA-1157 budget Android One smartphone gets certified by the FCC

There were many who were skeptical when HMD Global signed a licensing deal with Nokia. HMD Global is made up of ex-Nokia employees, but the idea of a new company being able to carry on the Nokia brand name in a way that did them well was questionable. However, they have actually put out a number of good smartphones over the last couple of years and are continuing to gain a dedicated fan base for their devices. Those who are looking for a new, affordable Nokia smartphone may want to wait a bit as some FCC documents have revealed a budget Android One device is in the works.

We don’t have an official name for this device at this time but the FCC ID documents that we found have given it the model number TA-1157. This doesn’t specifically tell us much about the device, but we have been able to learn some details while going through the documents themselves. During regular FCC certification processes, they publish documents that reveal various pieces of information about devices. Thanks to these documents we have learned various hardware and dimension details of the Nokia TA-1157.

Firstly, the device will come in two different versions with one being equipped with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage while the other will have 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The Nokia TA-1157 will have GSM, WCDMA, and LTE cellular connectivity, Bluetooth 4.2, and is capable of WiFi 802.11 b/g/n. Lastly, as far as the size and dimensions of the Nokia TA-1157, we are looking at a device that is just under 150mm tall, just over 71mm wide, and has an overall diagonal length of just over 165mm.
