After being delayed countless times, the Nokia 9 PureView is finally expected to make an appearance at the upcoming Mobile World Congress. A couple of HMD Global’s handsets, including the Nokia 2 V, 3.1 Plus, Nokia 6, 6.1, and 7.1, are already available in the U.S., and now it seems that the company would be releasing the Nokia 9 PureView in the country shortly after it gets unveiled at the upcoming trade show.
Nokia 9 PureView Camera Rumored to Combine All the Five Cameras at Once to Create a Detailed Image
The phone showed up on the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) website recently along with a schematic of its rear side, confirming the presence of the Penta-lens setup. While the FCC hasn’t betrayed the camera configuration, a Chinese leakster recently claimed that the phone will feature a wide-angle sensor, a telephoto one, and deep sensing technology to churn out images. Moreover, it’s also being claimed that the phone will have two 12MP camera sensors, two 16MP cameras, and one 8MP sensor.
All the five lenses will apparently be functional at the same time to let you chose an image from a collection of various angles and effects. Totaling to 64MP, the camera setup of the Nokia 9 PureView will still not be equal to the 68MP camera setup of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro in terms of megapixels, but as Google’s Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL have proven, pixel count isn’t the only thing that decides the quality of images.
Going back to the FCC listing, it seems to confirm the presence of an in-display sensor as the schematic doesn’t show a conventional one. Other things that the FCC document has revealed are the presence of both single and dual SIM variants of the phone and the Android One branding. However, the document says that the phone runs Android 8.1 Oreo.
Recently, Google also accidentally listed the device on its Enterprise device site, giving weight to the rumors that the phone is indeed going to be launched. It is expected to cost between $800 or $900, and unfortunately for the customers in the U.S., the FCC documents have revealed that an unlocked variant of the phone will be sold in the country, which means they will have to pay the whole amount upfront. Since the phone is expected to be powered by last year’s Snapdragon 845 SoC, we aren’t sure how many customers who want the very best will be willing to spend this much.
However, there was an earlier report stating that a 5G-ready model coupled with a Snapdragon 855 would be found in a better iterative of the Nokia 9 PureView, but it will be released later in the year.
