Nokia 6 starts receiving its Android Pie update

HMD Global’s roadmap for updates of Nokia devices included a whole host of devices that would be updated to Android Pie. This included the Nokia 6, the Pie update for which was scheduled for sometime in Q1 2019. The device was launched in January 2017 with Android 7.0 Nougat, and was subsequently updated to Android 7.1.1 and then to Android 8.1 Oreo. An early Android Pie beta build for the device was leaked late last year, and now HMD Global is officially rolling out the update.

The update for Nokia 6 (2017) is numbered as v6.12H, and ranges from 1.6-1.7GB in size depending on your region. The highlight of the update is obviously the bump up to Android 9 Pie, which in turn brings in features like a new navigation system, settings menu, notifications, adaptive battery and adaptive brightness, and Digital Wellbeing. The update also bumps up the device to February 2019’s Android security patch.

The update is seeing a staged rollout in several markets. Since HMD Global has officially announced the rollout of the update, the update should reach all users soon.
