One of the most common complaints about the first generation of Pixel phones was their selling price after years of low-cost Nexus phones. The second and third generations of the Pixel line followed the same trend with premium pricing at launch, but now the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL can be bought at a large $200 discount from the Google Store. With the discount, the 64GB Pixel 3 will only set you back $599 rather than $799 and the Pixel 3 XL will only pack a $699 punch to your wallet instead of an $899 one.
There have, of course, been discounts on the Pixel 3 and 3 XL before, though you’ve either had to buy one at regular price and get the discount on a second phone, deal with a smaller discount, or buy the Verizon variant for which there is no bootloader unlock. This time the Google Store will give you the $200 discount whether you get the carrier unlocked, Verizon model, or buy it through Google Fi.
For those of you who already have the Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL it may be worth upgrading now while the discount is being offered if for no other reason than to get a bump in camera, performance, and display quality. Given that Google unveiled its third-generation Pixel phones in early October 2018, it stands to reason that the next Pixel generation is about 7-8 months away and the next substantial discount may be a year away.
