Dead or Alive 6 Getting Deluxe Demo, Mai Shiranui and Another KoF Character Coming as DLC

The makers of Dead of Alive 6 made headlines last night at EVO Japan, for, uh, multiple reasons.  At certain points the DOA6 presentation veered into borderline NSFW territory, which got the livestream pulled from Twitch, but before things flew off the rails Team Ninja revealed some big news about their upcoming fighter. I’m going to keep it classy and focus on the announcements, but if you want to know about the other stuff that went on, well, you can watch the whole spectacle for yourself. Just make sure your boss isn’t hovering anywhere in the vicinity.

Anyways, one of the big announcements is that Dead or Alive 6 will be crossing over with SNK’s King of Fighters franchise. Mai Shiranui will be coming to DOA6 as DLC, because of course she will be, along with another unnamed KoF character. Mai will available to download in June. The KoF characters are part of the DOA6 Season Pass 1, which also includes a whopping 62 new costumes. No word yet on what the season pass will cost.

Dead or Alive 6 is also getting a “Deluxe Demo,” exclusive to PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live Gold subscribers. Sorry PC players, no demo for you I guess! The limited-time demo will include a large majority of the game’s content…

The Dead or Alive 6 Deluxe Demo will consist of online ranked and lobby matches, as well as Free Training, Tutorial, Command Training, Combo Challenge, and an introduction to Story mode. The demo will feature the full roster of 24 characters available at launch – all hairstyles and glasses will be available for each of the playable characters.

The Deluxe Demo kicks off on February 22 and runs until February 24. What do you think? Interested in giving the game a shot, or does the action not look up to snuff? Put off by Team Ninja’s somewhat lowbrow promotion of the game?

Dead or Alive 6 hits the PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on March 1.
