Apex Legends May be Getting Solo and Duos Modes, Game Surpasses Another Huge Milestone

Another day, another story about how Respawn’s new free-to-play battle royale game Apex Legends is knocking it out of the park. Apex Legends is doing so well it’s boosted Titanfall 2’s player numbers big time, and now Respawn co-founder Vince Zampella has announced the game has already surpassed 25 million players. In a week. Yeah.

Zampella also revealed players can look forward to some new Valentine’s Day loot this week. Wondering what else might be on the way? Well, reliable Fortnite data miner ShiinaBR did a bit of digging into Apex Legends’ code, and found evidence solo and duos modes might be on the way.

Currently, Apex Legends only lets players battle it out in squads of three, which is somewhat unusual for the battle royale genre. Of course, take this with a grain of salt, as Respawn hasn’t confirmed anything yet, but adding solo and duos play would only make sense. Perhaps one or both will be added when Season One kicks off in March.

Speaking of Season One and beyond, Respawn has shared their roadmap for the first year of Apex Legends. They plan to deliver four Seasons (in March, June, September, and December) each of which will include new Legends, weapons, loot, and a fresh Battle Pass. You can check out the plans in handy-dandy chart form, below.

Apex Legends is available now on PC, Xbox One, and PS4. What do you think? How long until Apex Legends hits the 50 million player mark? Could the game do the unthinkable and knock Fortnite off its free-to-play battle royale throne?
