Xiaomi Might Prep a More Powerful Gaming Smartphone Called Black Shark Skywalker, According to Benchmark

Xiaomi entered the gaming smartphone range with the launch of the Snapdragon 845-fueled Black Shark, followed by an upgraded variant shortly after called the Black Shark Helo. According to the latest benchmark leak, Xiaomi might be preparing another version called the Black Shark Skywalker, which is an interesting name for a gaming device, but since it is 2019, the Chinese manufacturer will keep up with the competition. The scores look impressive, so check them out right here, while also reading about other potential details surrounding the upcoming gaming handset.

Xiaomi Black Shark Skywalker Impresses in Both Single-Core and Multi-Core Results, Most Likely Due to Its Snapdragon 855 Upgrade

On Geekbench, a device named ‘Black Shark Skywalker’ has been spotted featuring 8GB of RAM and having obtained a single-core score of 3,494 points. The multi-core score shows the device obtained 11,149 points, indicating that a Snapdragon 855 will be part of the innards. Other details also reveal that the Black Shark Skywalker is running Android 9 Pie, which is a nice touch as some manufacturers tend to load a previous version of Android with no justification for this move.

Xiaomi launched the Black Shark Helo in a short time span, giving it noticeable specification upgrades, along with a slight design change. With the Black Shark Skywalker, Xiaomi might keep the design constant as it will reduce manufacturing costs. Additionally, employing the same advanced cooling technology present in the previous two gaming smartphones will mean the Snapdragon 855 will run at its default clock speed for a significantly longer period, letting the user enjoy the best performance out of the phone.

Xiaomi also made headlines by launching the gaming smartphone with 10GB of RAM, allowing users to keep a significant number of apps open simultaneously. However, Lenovo soon topped that with the launch of its Z5 Pro GT, a Snapdragon 855-powered flagship with 12GB of RAM. It will not be surprising if the Black Shark Skywalker also came with 12GB of RAM, along with small improvements in the camera department too.

It would be too much to ask for Qi wireless charging since it would increase the cost of the smartphone, and Xiaomi’s business model would interfere in that approach. Pricing is expected to increase slightly, thanks to the improved hardware specifications, but this is all the information we have for you right now. If these scores turn out to be legit, then the Xiaomi Black Shark Skywalker will be a beast in mobile computing.
