Metroid Prime 4 Development Is Being Rebooted; Now To Be Fully Developed By Retro Studios

Metroid Prime 4 has been announced almost two years ago, but Nintendo showed very little of the game so far. It seems like there was a very good reason for this, as the Japanese company was not happy with the game’s development.

In a brand new video shared today, Nintendo’s Shinya Takahashi confirmed that Metroid Prime 4 development is being restarted from scratch, as the company was not feeling confident with the current status of the game. It’s also been confirmed that Retro Studios, the team that developed the other entries in the series, will now be the only developer of the game.

Hints of things not going well were shared back in June 2018, right after the E3 2018. Nintendo of America’s Bill Trinen and Nate Bihldorff revealed in an interview that the game was simply not ready to be shown.

Is there anything you can say about Metroid Prime 4? Is there a reason it wasn’t at the show this year?

Trinen: It’s still in development.

Bihldorff: But yeah, we’re not featuring it at E3 this year.

Trinen: I think the main thing is, as people have probably realized by now – we show things when we think we’re ready to show them. And when we think we’re ready to show Metroid Prime, we’ll show Metroid Prime.

Metroid Prime 4 is in development for Nintendo Switch. We will keep you updated on the game as soon as more come in on it, so stay tuned for all the latest news.
