LG G8 ThinQ Might Launch at MWC 2019 and It Could Debut With Sound on Display Technology out of the Box

LG G8 ThinQ

Most smartphone manufacturers do not launch their flagship products during high-profile trade shows such as IFA, CES, and MWC because other products might divert the attention away from their offering. However, for some reason, LG and Xiaomi might reveal new smartphones at next month’s MWC trade show. LG launched its G6 during this trade show, though it released the G7 ThinQ a little while after MWC 2018 had concluded. With newer technologies expected to be found in mobile devices this year, LG might want to take leverage the trade show to its advantage.

LG G8 ThinQ Could Be the First Flagship From the Company’s ‘G’ Series to Feature a Triple Camera Setup

LG’s mobile division is in tatters it isn’t exactly because its devices are nothing to write home about. While the company hasn’t exactly released groundbreaking devices in the recent past, some of its devices failed to elicit a good response despite being pretty decent from a design and specifications overview. Continuous losses were the reason why the company announced leadership shakeup late last year. Now, the company has apparently decided to launch its upcoming flagship device, the LG G8 ThinQ at MWC 2019.

Since high profile announcements usually do not occur during trade shows, LG will get an opportunity to hog the limelight by unveiling the G8 ThinQ in Barcelona. However, rumor has it that Xiaomi is also planning to launch a device during the trade show, although it is not clear which model that would be. As for LG, an early announcement can accelerate its production schedule for the year but the company runs the risk of releasing a half-baked device for the masses.

The hardware might be top-notch but the software might need a fair bit of tuning. However, the Korean giant can pull this off with the release of timely software updates. Also, the company previously stated that it will only launch new products when the technology being used is advanced and stable, so that could be a hint stating the phone is ready for the market.

Not a lot is known about the LG G8 ThinQ right now, apart from the fact that it may feature the Sound on Display technology and a new 3D camera technology. The phone will most likely be fueled by the Snapdragon 855 chipset, like most flagship smartphones launching in 2019. As for how must it will cost, LG is not known for showing off competitive pricing, so it is likely that the G8 ThinQ will feature similar pricing as a Galaxy S10 Plus.

The rest of the information surrounding the flagship will be known as we near its launch, so stay tuned for more.
