Hands-on with new laptops from Samsung, LG, and Huawei announced at CES 2019

A lot of new products are being shown off at CES this week. From phones to walking cars to smart toilets, CES 2019 has had everything. Phones have taken a back seat at CES in recent years, but laptops are still a big part of the show. Major OEMs such as Samsung, LG, and Huawei have all announced their new laptops this week. Our friends at Pocketnow and our own XDA TV have gone hands-on with these devices.

The Notebook 9 Pro is Samsung’s new Windows 10 flagship laptop for early 2019. Even though it doesn’t have an S Pen slot in the device, it still comes with an Active Pen. They also showed off the entry-level Notebook Flash and the gaming-centric Notebook Odyssey with the Nvidia RTX 2080 GPU. You can watch Jaime Rivera go hands-on with these new flagship computers from Samsung.

LG launched the new LG Gram 14 and LG Gram 17. The LG Gram series is known for being fast and super lightweight laptops while also having great battery life. With the new models launched this week, that’s no exception. They feature full touchscreens and 360-degree hinges for tablet mode. The 17-inch model has a huge display, but it weighs less than 3 pounds. You can watch Joshua Vergara go hands-on with these lightweight laptops.

Next up is Huawei’s newest laptop in the MateBook series, the Huawei MateBook 13. The MateBook Pro was widely considered the best Windows laptop of 2018. This new laptop continues to build off that success. It has a sleek design and very minimal bezels while being thin and light. The one downside is the lack of Thunderbolt 3 on this great machine. It starts at $999. Jaime Rivera goes hands-on with this new beast of a laptop from Huawei.

Next, but certainly not least, we have the MediaPad M5 Lite and XDA TV’s impressions of the MateBook 13. The MediaPad M5 Lite is a new tablet from Huawei running the Kirin 659. It has a quad-speaker system, a 7,500 mAh battery, and support for the “M Stylus.” This tablet is more than your typical tablet as it’s focused on drawing abilities. You can watch our very own TK Bay go hands on with the MediaPad M5 Lite and share his impressions of the MateBook 13.
