Google Search Activity Cards Allow You to Look at Past Queries, Page Visits and More

It’s hard to imagine a world without Google Search and the ever-growing list of features it supports. Earlier this year, we got Google Lens in Image Search, and  Google Discover rebrand. Today, the company announced that they’re rolling out activity cards that help users organise lookups. Activity cards are designed to make the Search experience on mobile a more continuous process. It is easy to get distracted mid-search and start the process all over again at a later point. Activity cards essentially help users “pick up where you left off,”

When users perform a similar search, a “Your related activity” card appears before the list of results, depending on your search activity. Tapping on the card will show a list of articles you have clicked on in the past as part of a previous query. Below that list, old searches are shown in a carousel that users can tap to reopen. For example, if you’ve searched for “epic Fortnite battle” at some point, you’ll see it in the carousel if you search for “Fortnite Despacito battle” later. To enable activity cards, head over to the overflow menu in the top-right corner from where you can toggle the option and more.

Search’s Collections helps you organize your log your travels better. It is cumbersome to tell if you’ve already visited a page. With Search’s Collections, users can hold down on an article to either add to a collection or delete from the activity. If you want to mark a page to read or reference later, just touch and hold the link to quickly add items on your activity card to a collection. You can access your collections by tapping the menu on the top left of the Search page or through the bottom bar of the Google app.

Activity cards are beginning to roll out today on the mobile web and in the Google app. It is currently available in English in the U.S. and will be rolled out in other regions and languages ‘soon’.
