The first route you can take is a fairly obvious one and should not be discounted in any case – a quick restart. Power down your iPhone or iPad, wait a few seconds and then power it up. Use cellular data and see if your problem has been resolved. If it has been resolved then your journey ends here. If not, then move forward.
This step is a bulletproof method of fixing things up but there’s one downside to it: you will lose all remembered WiFi networks completely in the end. If you have set up your cellular settings manually, you will lose them too. Therefore it is a good idea to write everything down on a notepad before going ahead.
Navigate to Settings > General > Reset then on Reset Network Settings and confirm your selection by entering your device’s PIN code when prompted for it. Your device will restart after a few seconds and you’ll be back on the lock screen. If you have to enter your APN settings for cellular manually then please do so and then use cellular data and see if things have been fixed up for you.
Usually, at this point everything should be fine. If not, then you might want to consider doing a clean restore of iOS, which is a slightly painful method for some but definitely works out in no matter what. If your problem still hasn’t been resolved then you might want to consider visiting your carrier for getting a SIM card replacement or further diagnosis of the problem. In certain cases a bad SIM card can seriously destroy things up for the user, forcing a replacement.
