After Multiple Disasters, Microsoft Has Finally Decided to Use Its Insiders to Test Cumulative Updates (KB4476976 Is Out)

It’s getting almost a routine to read about non-stop disasters that many of the Windows 10 users face after every new update. At first, it was around new feature updates, however, in the past few months, even the cumulative updates have managed to throw a few curve balls at Windows users. It appears that Microsoft has finally decided to test these monthly updates before pushing them to everyone.

Microsoft has released a new cumulative update to Windows 10 1809 October 2018 Update, but the update is currently only available to the Release Preview ring. KB4476976 aka build 17763.288 brings some Action Center fixes and improvements (via TF). Nothing big, but just the fact that the company has decided to push them to the Insiders before releasing them to the public gives us hope that this might become a regular thing.

Here’s the changelog of Windows 10 version 1809 KB4476976:

• We fixed an issue where the Action Centre might suddenly appear on the opposite side of the screen before appearing on the correct side.
• We fixed an issue resulting in the Action Centre icon sometimes showing a number of unread notifications, however when you opened the Action Centre it would be blank.

If you are signed up with the Release Preview ring, you can download and install the latest Windows 10 cumulative update through Settings.

While we can’t say if this is a one-off thing or if this strategy would be employed in the future, it certainly would make the lives of many Windows 10 users a tad easier, albeit at the cost of Release Preview ring Insiders. But since Insiders are kind of okay with dealing with bugs and are almost always technically more pro than an average end user, it makes much more sense to roll out these Windows 10 cumulative updates to this group before releasing them to the wider public. After all, that’s why this ring exists…
