Intel's Core i9-9900KS pre-binned flavors recently went live on Silicon Lottery with up to 5.2 GHz guaranteed overclocks, however, Caseking has an even better option which offers up to 5.3 GHz speeds, pre-tested by renowned overclocker, Der8auer.

So while Silicon Lottery is selling their top-end Intel Core i9-9900KS 5.2 GHz pre-binned CPU for $1199.99 US, the Core i9-9900KS Advanced Edition from Der8auer is being sold by Caseking for 999.90€. The Intel Core i9-9900KS Advanced Edition comes with a 100 MHz higher all-core clock speed which is guaranteed on arrival but there's also some noteworthy features of the advanced edition that I am going to talk about.

It is stated that each der8auer CPU (including the Core i9-9900KS Advanced Edition) would be delidded and pretested upon receipt of the order. Once the order has been confirmed, the chip would be delidded and Thermal Grizzly's Conductonaut Liquid Metal Thermal Compound will be applied which as stated would reduce the temperatures by 8 degrees Celcius. The IHS would also receive laser engraving of Der8auer and Caseking.de. The CPU will come in a black case with foam around the CPU to protect it during shipment.
The Core i9-9900KS Advanced Edition would have a manufacturer warranty of 24-month (King-Mod Guarantee). There are some precautions mentioned on the product page which clearly mention that the chip is to be used with a high-end Z390 motherboard. Z370 motherboards will also be able to support the processor just fine and the chip would also be supported by the rest of the Intel 300 series lineup too but H/Q/B series doesn't allow overclocking so to make full use of the chip, Z390 or Z370 is recommended. It is also mentioned that the voltage for overclocking would be specified on the package itself which is to be used for stable OC operation. It is mentioned that the safe spot for Core i9-9900KS CPUs is up till 1.39V after which, any extra voltage can potentially damage the CPU silicon, rendering it useless. Note 1: Due to the strong to a very strong increase in clock speed of the banked King Mod CPUs is expected to increase heat dissipation compared to the standard TDP, which must, therefore, be intercepted by an adequate powerful cooling of the system. For this reason, this is also the tray version of the processor that does not come with a boxed CPU cooler. Therefore we strongly recommend using at least a 280, better a 360 AiO water cooling for cooling.
Note 2:For overclocked processors of the Intel "Coffee Lake-S Refresh" series, for the use of (rare) applications with AVX support in UEFI, an offset value of at least 3 should be set in relation to the OC clock to avoid overheating , In order to explore the maximum clock values of the binned CPUs and to ensure their stability, der8auer tests each individual copy for at least one hour under Prime95 26.6 with 1344K.
As I stated in the previous article, there are people who are in search of golden samples to break records, especially enthusiasts and overclockers. There are also people who have extra money to burn and just get the best of the best and this is one of those niche products.
