Android 10 Update Rolling Out for OnePlus 6T

Last month, OnePlus put out a roadmap that shed light on their Android 10 rollout schedule. As expected, the OnePlus 7 was to receive the software first followed by the OnePlus 6T and 6. Shortly after the announcement,  the OnePlus 7 was at the receiving end of Android 10. Its predecessor—the OnePlus 6 and 6T—had to make do with an open beta. The program ended sometime last week and today, a stable Android 10 build is rolling out for the OnePlus 6T. Here's the full changelog according to OnePlus' website:

  • System
    • Upgraded to Android 10
    • Brand new UI design
    • Enhanced location permissions for privacy
    • New customization feature in Settings allowing you to choose icon shapes to be displayed in the Quick Settings
  • Full-Screen Gestures
    • Added inward swipes from the left or right edge of the screen to go back
    • Added a bottom navigation bar to allow switching left or right for recent apps
  • Game Space
    • New Game Space feature now joins all your favorite games in one place for easier access and better gaming experience
  • Smart display
    • Intelligent info based on specific times, locations and events for Ambient Display (Settings – Display – Ambient Display – Smart Display)
  • Message
    • Now possible to block spam by keywords for Message (Messages – Spam – Settings – Blocking settings)

The OxygenOS 10 update for the OnePlus 6T weighs in at a hefty 1.8GB and brings forth all the standard Android 10 features along with some OnePlus-specific features such as the company's Game Space feature, the "Contextual display" ambient display feature and the October security patch.

Like all of OnePlus' OTAs, this is a staged rollout. Not all variants of the OnePlus 6T will get it immediately and you may have to wait for up to a week, depending on where you are. Previously, switching locations to places such as Germany would do the trick. It doesn't work anymore as OnePlus releases the software to a limited number of devices, regardless of location. OnePlus is yet to post the official OTA links, so sideloading isn't an option just yet.
