ZTE’s Nubia Z20 Officially Arrives in the U.S.; Features Dual OLED Screen, Flagship Specs, & a Cheaper Price Than OnePlus 7T

ZTE’s Nubia Z20 Officially Arrives in the U.S.

Phone makers are trying newer ways to eliminate the bezels and those unsightly notches on their smartphones. ZTE is a relatively unknown smartphone company in the U.S. in terms of market share and its take on eliminating the notch and bezels is to add a second OLED screen at the back of its new Nubia Z20. The handset with flagship specifications is officially here in the U.S., and its asking price is cheaper than that of OnePlus 7T. That’s an impressive combination, but let us take a closer look at how the Nubia Z20 could win you over.

ZTE Claims the Nubia Z20 Can Capture 8K Video, and It Checks All the Boxes for What a Customer Wants in an Affordable Flagship

As stated above, the ZTE Nubia Z20 offers a dual-OLED screen solution. The front side features a 6.42-inch, 2340 x 1080 curved AMOLED screen with Gorilla Glass 5, and it can display peak brightness of 600 nits. The backside of the device also features a display, albeit a smaller 5.1-inch, 1520 x 720 one. That’s how ZTE was able to eliminate the bezels and the notch on this flagship device. Speaking of flagship, the Nubia Z20 rocks impressive internals, ranging from a Snapdragon 855 Plus, 8GB RAM and 128GB of onboard storage.

The battery is a solid 4000mAh capacity, and the Nubia Z20 offers a triple camera solution too. There’s a 48MP RGB sensor, followed by a 16MP ultra-wide-angle unit, and an 8MP shooter with 3x optical zoom and 30x digital zoom. ZTE states that users can snap selfies simply by switching over to the secondary display and taking a picture. The best part about this solution is that they’ll get the same quality as you’d be taking images from the primary camera configuration while staring at the secondary OLED screen.

ZTE also states that the Nubia Z20 is able to capture 8K video at 15FPS and with 10-bit color depth. Lower framerate or not, if what ZTE says is true, it still quite a refreshing thing to hear about a smartphone being able to record in 8K, though we can’t speak about the quality here and it will vary considerably compared to high-end camera gear. Charging of the phone is carried out using a USB-C port, and there’s space to accommodate two SIM cards. The device supports up to 27-watts of power and its battery can go from 0-100 percent in less than 100 minutes.

Available colors of the Nubia Z20 are Twilight Blue and Diamond Black. For $549, you’re getting 8GB RAM, 128GB and $50 savings over the OnePlus 7T. If you place your order right now from Nubia’s website, it will take around 5-7 days for the handset to be delivered to your doorstep. So how about it? A dual-screen device with flagship internals, all-day battery capacity and a competitive price to match. Sounds like a good deal? Let us know down in the comments.
