Wizards of the Coast Acquires Montreal Based Studio Tuque Games

Wizards of the Coast

Wizards of the Coast acquired a Montreal based game development studio which is already working on a game using the Dungeons and Dragons license.

The studio is Tuque Games, which is known mostly for developing the co-op shooter Livelock, released in 2016.

"Tuque is thrilled to have the opportunity to be part of the Wizards of the Coast team," Tuque founder Jeff Hattem said. "By working more closely together, we can accelerate our joint vision and bring to life new games, characters and worlds in Wizards of the Coast's roster of franchises."

Wizards of the Coast president Chris Cocks commented on the acquisition as well.

At Wizards, we're continuing our commitment to creating new ways to bring our fan favorite brands to life. Our unique approach of connecting fans around the tabletop as well as through our expanding portfolio of digital games is redefining what it means to be a games company.

Livelock is actually a pretty solid top-down shooter game featuring RPG mechanics, so it will be very interesting to see how the team will use the D&D license and which type of game it will release. More information on Livelock can be found on the game's Steam page.
