Samsung’s Galaxy S11 Unpacked Event Reportedly Happening in February, 2020

Galaxy S11 Launch Event Rumored to Be Held in February 2020

The dust has barely settled on the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 launch and the internet is already abuzz about the South Korean giant’s next flagship. While we know that the Galaxy S lineup is usually announced in the first quarter of every year, it looks like the exact Galaxy S11 launch date has been fixed already, if this little detail is to be believed.

Unconfirmed Report States the Galaxy S11 Unpacked Event Might Take Place Considerably Early Next Year

The news comes from SamMobile but it’s accompanied by a disclaimer; the outlet cannot vouch for the credibility of the source. According to the report, the Galaxy S11 launch event will take place on February 18 next year. Samsung usually holds its Unpacked events in February, so there is a good chance that the rumor is accurate.

As with past ‘S’ series belong to Samsung, we can expect the Galaxy S11 launch to take place in San Francisco, U.S. Even if the phone is not announced on February 18, it will most likely be revealed somewhere around that date, if it gets announced at all.

However, you should be reminded that the Galaxy S11 launch might never take place if Samsung merges the S series and Note lineup. A leak says that the South Korean giant is currently considering this option, as over the years both its flagship lineups have become similar anyway. Thus, in place of the Galaxy S11, we might see the first phone of the new Galaxy One family with an S Pen stylus. Then in the second half of the year, the company might announce the Galaxy Fold successor.

Nothing has been finalized yet and given that the market for foldable phones is still limited, we don’t think the South Korean giant will replace the Note series with bendable handsets anytime soon. Thus, for now, the Galaxy S11 launch seems more likely.

The phone is tipped to come with a better in-display fingerprint sensor, the rumored Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, up to 1TB of native storage, and faster 12GB LPDDR5 DRAM. Other leaked features to look forward to including 5x optical zoom, graphene battery, and a feature similar to iPhone 11 Pro’s Deep Fusion.

As exciting as that sound, it’s worth remembering that the Galaxy S series gets massive upgrades every two years, and thus we think the Galaxy S11 will be a marginal improvement over its predecessor. We highly advise that you treat this rumor with a pinch of salt and we’ll be back with more details, like always.
