New Super Mario Games Are Possibly In The Works, As Nintendo Is Hiring For The Development Of New 2D And 3D Games

Super Mario

It’s been some time since we have seen new entries in the Super Mario series, and it seems like new 2D and new 3D games are in the works.

Nintendo recently confirmed on Twitter that the company is hiring for the development of a new 2D game in Kyoto and a new 3D action game in Tokyo.

While there’s no mention of Mario in the recruiting ads, it’s highly likely that Nintendo is recruiting for the development of new entries in the series. The only Nintendo team based in Tokyo is Production Group 8, the development studio of Super Mario 3D World, Captain Toad Treasure Tracker, and Super Mario Odyssey.

As for the 2D game, Nintendo is not developing any 2D series beside Mario and the image included in the tweet is self-explanatory as well.

The latest main entry in the series is Super Mario Odyssey. The game has been released on Nintendo Switch two years ago, and it’s one of the finest entries in the series.

Super Mario Odyssey is the best 3D Mario game. It just is. Level design, the way Mario moves and jumps, collectibles, it’s all just… Practically perfect. This is the Mario game I’ve been wanting for so long, and I already know I’m going straight for 100% completion.

The latest 2D Mario game is Super Mario Maker 2. The game is an improvement over the original in every possible way.

Super Mario Maker 2 is another Nintendo Switch essential. With more things to create with, more unique stages to play and better online functionality, this is the definitive Mario Maker experience. Honestly, the game is good enough to have the story mode sold separately, but the fact that it’s bundled with such a powerful stage creation tool is incredible. This is one of the best Mario games of all time.
