Latest OnePlus 8 Pro Renders Replace Pop-up Camera for a Punch-Hole One; a Quadruple Sensor Setup Is Now Present at the Back

OnePlus 8 Pro Renders Show Rear Quad Camera, Front Punch-Hole Sensor

Shortly after we reported about the OnePlus 8 design and how it differed from the OnePlus 7, a reputable leakster is back with some fresh OnePlus 8 Pro renders. This model is expected to be the more powerful member of the OnePlus 8 range, and as you’re about to see, there are a number of changes made in both design and hardware compared to this year’s flagship.

New OnePlus 8 Pro Renders Also Show No Headphone Jack, but That’s to Be Expected

Thanks to OnLeaks in collaboration with 91mobiles, an entire gallery showing nothing but OnePlus 8 Pro renders can be seen and appreciated, while the ‘detective’ among you will try to separate the changes between the upcoming flagship and the OnePlus 7 Pro. According to additional details, the OnePlus 8 Pro display is expected to measure 6.65 inches, making it slightly bigger than the 6.5-inch screen rumored for the OnePlus 8.

The curved edges can also be seen if you sift through the gallery and as OnePlus stated earlier, all future models will arrive with 90Hz refresh rate panels, so that’s a nice touch. Now we should dive deeper into the design. Instead of a pop-up mechanism present on the OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7T Pro, these OnePlus 8 renders show a punch-hole style camera opening, similar to what we’ve seen on the Galaxy S10e. Personally, we like this approach, as having movable parts in a smartphone is a risky choice when it comes to long-term reliability.

Moving on to the backside, while you’ll see a triple rear camera setup that looks similar to the OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7T Pro, these OnePlus 8 Pro renders also reveal a fourth tiny sensor, which is probably a 3D ToF unit. Depending on what the company has in store for us, it could either be used for enhancing AR-related applications or provide additional detail in images captured via Portrait Mode.

The Alert Slider has not been omitted, with it and the power button located on the right side, with the volume rockers present on the left. At the bottom, there’s a USB-C charging port, with a tiny speaker grill located next to it. According to the specifications, the OnePlus 8 Pro will measure 165.3 x 74.4 x 8.8mm in size.

What’s the Expected OnePlus 8 Pro Release Date, and What Other Features Should You Expect?

Next year, both of OnePlus’ devices could offer 5G support, and as the company’s CEO stated before, we could get cheaper devices than the OnePlus 7 Pro. We also hope that this time, users get access to Qi wireless charging since that’s a feature that’s long overdue on these handsets. As for the OnePlus 8 Pro release date, if you’re interested in upgrading to it, perhaps mark your calendars for an announcement date that could take place during May 2020.
