macOS Catalina 10.15.1 Beta 2

Apple has released macOS Catalina 10.15.1 beta 3 to developers. The new beta has build number 19B86 and contains minor bug fixes and performance improvements. The update is available via Apple Developer Center as well as over-the-air for existing beta users.

macOS Catalina 10.15.1 is shaping up to be a maintenance update, which will fix a number of issues reported by users. Unlike iOS 13.x releases, macOS Catalina updates have been rather slow. Apple released a supplemental update for macOS Catalina 10.15 but there was no update to the version number. On the other hand, iOS and iPadOS are at version 13.1.3 right now, with version 13.2 in beta testing.

macOS Catalina 10.15 was released early this month with a number of new features including Apple Arcade, Sidecar, security improvements, Catalyst apps, new Reminders, Music, TV, Podcasts and Find My apps, and many more.

macOS Catalina has received mixed reception since its launch. Partially due to performance issues and bugs, as well as due to the breakup of iTunes into multiple apps. Apple also removed support for 32-bit apps, which caused some confusion with users when they realized that their apps stopped working. Apple had provided ample time to developers to update their apps, as the transition started a long time ago.
